chapter 98 -Hunter

                           Encounter with Trespasser

We were cleaning out our rain spouting of debris at the rear of our home on Dec. 4, 2017 and we heard a loud single shot from our property. It was alarming and we decided to investigate. We don't investigate gunfire from other's property, but this came from our land nearby--too close for comfort. We put on our flash orange coats and hats and we walked towards the source of the gunshot. I was recording when we left our home vicinity. We followed the sound. Walking on our meditative path we discovered a hunter, Julius Laslo trespassing on our land standing over a dead doe he had just killed feet from the path. We didn't know who he was, he was a stranger to us. We approached him, still recording and told him he was trespassing . He seemed agitated by my persistence and we both were disturbed by his comment of "I am being nice".

Under the circumstances we both considered that a threat. As if we had an alternative. The video is 10 minutes long and HD and is too large to load here so a short screen video of the original is posted here. He had no choice, he was criminally trespassing on our land, standing over a dead doe. This is just a screen video of a longer video of him trying to convince us that his actions were not willful. In the litany of versions to convince us of his innocence, he told us he was a Jehovah's Witness, which didn't score any points with us. He feigned heart palipitations and said he had a heart murmur. We post our land and had posted in the region but the signs are always torn down. There is even a record of us reporting to the police, decades ago, about signs being torn down. We are the only landowners in that region of our property who post their land.  There are no posting for the Hart, Stoneback or Raisch properties . He said Ed Rasich gave him permission to hunt on his land but he was on our land. We believe he knew he was trespassing and was playing dumb. I suspected his mind set is "it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission". We never met him before. He seemed to flaunt that he was the owner of Julius Laslo Roofing which gave us the impression that his status in the business community gave him privilege and credibility. We don't give permission to anyone who asked to hunt on our land though many request have been made. When we first bought our home 35 years ago, Leonard Repash, Jesse's father had asked for permission to hunt on our land--he actually drew up a contract, which we signed but he never gave us a copy. Fast forward, when Leonard Repash sued us, believing that calling us fags and queers would have us eating out of his hand, the premise of his suit was we did not honor a verbal agreement which only occurred in the minds of he and his conspiring closet case attorneys' minds. Why would anyone draw up an agreement for hunting and not for paving a shared road? We consider our land sacred and the path around it is a meditative path where harmony with the Universe is honored.
Illegal Tree Stand on our Land

The video is a little over 10 minutes long which is dominated by Laslo trying to convince us that his trespass was a mere oversight.  He did thank us for being so civil. What we found very disturbing was the tree stand we discovered on our land within feet of the dead doe and we believe he knows who put the tree stand up on our land years ago. He said he was hunting in that spot for years. The tree stand was meant to blend in with the tree, which it did. You can't see it from the walking path because it is on the upside of the tulip tree and the webbing that secures the ladders is grey and blends into the bark of the tree. It has been there so long that the ladder is grown into the bark of the tree. He said he was watching while Scott took our dog for a walk. He had memorized the times and described the color of our dog and speculated the breed. We both found that creepy. So if he wasn't hunting on our land, why was he watching and monitoring the times that we walked the dog on our land? We only discovered the giant tree stand when he was trying to convince us that the tree stand he was using was a dinky stand on the Rasich land, near our shared property line. Our land borders 3 different properties in that region and none of them have No Trespassing signs up establishing borders. We put signs up and they are torn down. We believe the tree stand on the Rasich land is a decoy stand for wiggle room, it is small and dinky. It appears to also face our land and it appears that identical materials, ladder etc, are the same as the giant stand on our land. Most tree stands we have seen don't look like this one. This tree stand was constructed by someone  who is not afraid of heights...this is high. We believe Julius Laslo knows who is responsible for this tree stand on our land. He just would not stop trying to convince us he was telling the truth. We also found it disturbing was that this appeared to be a thrill kill. When I asked him if he was going to eat the deer, he seemed perplexed and balked at replying. There was NO blood trail, none.
                                    Tree Stand

We did report this to the Pennsylvania Game Commission via e-mail. We were contacted by a local officer of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He came by and we showed him the circumstances and told him we have a video of our encounter. He chastised us for approaching the hunter and told us that it was a very dangerous thing for us to have done. That is why we find the comment from Laslo saying "I am being nice" a threat of sorts. Did we have a choice? The first question the Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer asked was, "why didn't you report this crime to the Lower Saucon Township Police?". We briefly explained the Lower Saucon Township Police interaction. I told him that I believe that the Lower Saucon Township Police is a criminal organization. We believe that the Police would have made a joke of this and made us feel foolish for having any concerns. Plus, years ago we reported a copper wire theft from the PPL right of way through our property and the responding officer told us, when we wanted to show him the crime scene, he said " I don't want to get my shoes dirty".

So now, it saddens us to say that we believe the Pennsylvania Game Officer was just blowing smoke and was protecting Julius Laslo from any charges. He told us that he has encountered Julius Laslo Roofing employees illegally hunting deer on Lehigh University property and when he confronted them, they said that they were employees of Julius Laslo Roofing and he said that gave him the impression that gave them wiggle room/privilege, protection them from any charges. He said that was compounded by the fact that they used Julius Laslo Roofing trucks with company signage as transportation to commit their criminal act. Since this first encounter on Dec. 4, 2017 with Julius Laslo, we since had another trespasser  and Scott videoed the encounter. The Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer requested to see that video of that encounter but isn't remotely interested in seeing the Laslo trespass video. Our last encounter with the Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer was strange. He arrived unannounced on a Saturday, late afternoon and seemed a bit hostile and cut me off a few times when I brought up different topics. We suspect he spoke with the Lower Saucon Township Police which may have poisoned the well. He had said in the past what strange neighbors we have and talked about the hostility of one in particular. But we found odd was that he said he spoke to Kathy Rasich, the wife of Ed Rasich and he said she said we were very nice guys which is based on our interactions with her at Neighbors Garden Center in Hellertown. He seemed amazed that anyone had anything nice to say about us. In fact we were surprised that she was honest. We know people in the neighborhood who dislike us and don't even really know us. We don't really care what strangers think of us. If they have a problem with homosexuality, it is THEIR problem.
